At Probi, we are dedicated to helping people take control of their microbiome to live better, longer lives. Guided by our ”Restoring Natural Balance” philosophy and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we combine innovative solutions, strategic partnerships, and sustainable practices to tackle global health challenges and create a healthier, more resilient world.
Just as imbalance in a microbiome can lead to disease, disruptions in Earth’s ecosystems - like climate change - pose serious challenges. By embedding sustainability into everything we do—from reducing emissions and rethinking resources to strengthening ethical governance—we create value for our customers, partners, end consumers and society.
For us, good business is inseparable from doing good for people and the planet.
At Probi, restoring natural balance isn’t just about health—it’s about the planet too. That’s why we’re committed to addressing climate change. Read more in our Sustainability and Annual Overview 2024.
Annual overview 2024We are committed to reducing waste and finding circular solutions wherever possible. In our production, we have minimized water consumption and repurposed surplus water into new applications, such as ingredients for beauty products that not only reduce waste but also deliver health benefits. This way, circularity is not just about consuming less, but also about upcycling our side streams into new value.
Here's one great example: Probi’s upcycled fermentation broth becomes the basis of a new skin care product.
But circularity goes beyond production. When industrial equipment such as boilers is replaced, it is sold for continued use rather than discarded. Lab equipment that no longer meets our precision standards is either donated to schools—extending its life and supporting education—or sold to specialized resellers, ensuring it continues to be put to use. Even our old computers and mobile phones are refurbished and resold.
Since spring 2025 both of Probi’s production plants in the US are running entirely on renewable electricity, as well as the head office in Lund, Sweden. Thanks to these efforts, we’re on track to achieve our Science Based Targets five years ahead of schedule, by the end of 2025.
Our strategy for sustainabilityStrong governance is the foundation of sustainable business.
In 2024, Probi launched a revised Code of Conduct, signed by 96% of employees, with mandatory training for all new hires. We strengthened workplace safety with infrastructural upgrades, ergonomic equipment, and updated OSHA-compliant policies. 100% of employees completed anti-corruption training.
Our long-term ambition is clear: to ensure full compliance with all policies and guidelines, maintaining the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and fairness.
To ensure that our business model and processes are environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable, we have implemented a number of policies. These are essential and provide the firm framework we operate under to create success in accordance with our high ethical standards.
